05 January 2014

Here's to the world not ending with 1999. Anyone with me?

I don’t really do resolutions. I don’t like the pressure. It’s not only January 1st of each year that I want to eat more healthy, work out more often, have more “fun”, etc. I like to think that these are constant goals of mine. With that being said, my 2014 New Year resolution is to document our life better. This has been weighing on both Chris and my minds for quite some time... Long before Harlyn was born or even a thought. But with her in our lives now it doesn’t just seem like a nice idea to do but an actual necessity. It is so scary how fast her little 6 ½ month life has flown by so far. Even scarier, though, is how much of it I really don’t remember. When someone asks me a question like, “When did she first smile?” if I hadn’t thought to write it down I have no clue! (I did write down her first smile, by the way.) But it really becomes such a blur of time. Especially the early very sleep deprived months!

So, I am making a resolution this year. It is to document better. And because we live so far away from our entire family and I know to resolute to not only document better but then print, mail, or email those documents to all of our family members is just unrealistic (for me anyway), I am starting a blog to share them. Rather, hijacking a blog. Chris started this when we first got engaged. The craziness of wedding planning and being newly weds soon got in the way, however, and well, I’m sure you can guess what happened and why there were only two posts until now.

So here is to 2014! And all the beauty, wonder, and mishap that it is certain to bring!

Happy New Year!

The Maroon Bells

In late September, Mishayla and I grabbed PJ and took off in search of beautiful mountains and fall leaves. We made a few sandwiches, packed some snacks and headed to Aspen via Independence Pass...

We stopped in Twin Lakes just outside Buena Vista for a quick break and snapped some pictures...

The Maroon Bells are amazing! If you ever get the opportunity to visit they are completely worth it...

What a great day trip. Neither of us had been to the area before and we had so much fun. The weather was perfect and so were the colorful leaves!

We're engaged!

On a beautiful, crisp Colorado evening on December 15, 2011 I asked Mishayla to marry me. It was truly an amazing night. We are so happy and excited to begin our new life together!
